OMG....is it really November????

Almost gave my self cardiac arrest the other day when I really looked at the calendar and noticed that Thanksgiving is next week!!!! Can you believe it?? It just doesn't feel like the holidays. I don't know if it is because of the economy but I have to believe that it plays a pretty big role in it. My sister and I continually express hope that 2010 has to be better...but will it?? That seems to be a pretty big wish...not sure if Santa can bring that one down the chimney! There are so many people out of work with no jobs in sight...I don't think that unemployment has hit it's lowest point yet...I am still seeing businesses go under...different ones every week...

What really needs to be done to correct the downturn that this nation has fallen in?? I don't have the answers...I have ideas and I can't even say that they are original ones! Am I stupid or does small business have to thrive again?? I know we have our struggles...and each and every one of you do as well...is there really a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel? I fear for my job every day...I have a plan so we can eventually survive without it but I just can't pick the right damn lottery numbers....j/k!!! Unfortunately plans take time to develop but at least I'm working on it.....

Please comment...send me notes...pass this along to your friends who might be interested...I'm going to try and post more often as life allows and I really want to hear your feedback...

I know I'll post again before but Happy Holidays to all.....

  1. I hope that plan of yours will be developed soon, if so pass it on =)
Even here in Sweden, people are having a hard time, many people here without a job. I surely hope that this economical crisis will turn soon.

  2. I own a small business, all we are doing is paying our bills, no one but family in the business, can't afford to hire anyone. We all need to remember these times election day.

  3. Thank you both for commenting. For the small business owners...I know so many people that are in the same situation. As for my plan...all I want to do is be responsible for my own future...I am concentrating on mastering my photography with the hopes that I can freelance or run my own business...

  4. Hey Brant,
I can't say a great deal except to throw a Canadian slant on things. There is a light at the end of every dark tunnel. I have been out of work for 11 months now and yet when it rains, it pours. I have had two job offers in the same day. We all have to hang in there, perhaps Canada has not felt this recession as deeply as the U.S. but on a brighter note I have lived long enough to see this for the second time and I promise you it will turn around. There are never any sure fire solutions for any government good or bad.
the "numbers" up here are and were not as bad as yours but everything is self-correcting in some fashion. I feel we all had it too good for too long and lost sight of realistic economic status goals. The so called "speculators of this globe of ours carry the heaviest burden of guilt for the whole sordid mess and yet all they can do is laugh all the way to the bank.
I wish you,and anyone else who reads this, the very best for the future as it is nearing the end of this year.

I would also like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, coming from someone who has already celebrated it and remains nearly stuffed to this day.

    Regards

  5. Dave, thanks for your insight. I agree 100%...we are all guilty to some extent of losing sight of "reality." We did have things good for a very long time...I was in Southern California when the housing market collapsed down here in the U.S. I am extremely thankful to have my job...I was out of full time work for 7 months last year and have a great number of friends who have been out of work for close to a year.
I truly hope that karma pays a visit to those who are too marrow minded to really see what is going on worldwide.
My best to you and yours through this holiday season Dave!
